Last Ranker PSP

Post by flamethrower » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:52 pm

The game is about an organization of "rankers" who fight each other for "rank" (and privilege). The story follows Zig, a new ranker who aims to be #1 (the last ranker). Battles are usually 1 vs 1 (sometimes 1 vs many) and in real-time.

I made a menu patch for this. You can get it here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/qlhbf ... _v1.xdelta
Some screenshots here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/last-ranker- ... st-6389799

I was having trouble inserting the script.
Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oleWWxBuZUQ
Need help finding the routine that controls that linebreaking behavior.
I traced it to 0x08821738 where it is loading text vertical position; I didn't get farther than that.
Look at this thread on Xentax for all the hacking details: http://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=12484

Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Patch: http://www.mediafire.com/download/fsr4r ... _v2.xdelta
Should have every string that's not in the script and 50% of the scripts strings as translated by EnglishSubs4All.
The patch is huge because compression is extensively used in this game and it makes patches big.
I could make a video if you guys want.
--------------------------
For further progress, I would need a translator.
--------------------------
It turns out there's a parameter that controls the text "wrapping."
Here's my armips script for adjusting them (it will also tell you where they all are): http://pastebin.com/zuMpyXtH

The MO for this game is strings separated by nulls. Absolutely every single string that I needed to change was stored this way.
The script strings were a bit more complicated than this, refer to the Xentax link above for more information.

v2.1: http://www.mediafire.com/download/lpt5o ... 2_1.xdelta
This patch is a differential from v2, to avoid distributing huge patches.

Fixed:
-Accessing "Rankers File" screen in the menu crashes the game
Improvement:
-Some of the text at the bottom of the options screen was cut off

For the options screen, these are pictures. To see what an option does, highlight it with your cursor.

There's another bug if you try to ride the gondola.
I've identified the problem and I have an idea for fixing it. It will be 24hrs or so because I'm traveling today.
The problem is I'm using automatic line wrapping and it is picking up "Upper District:Fountain Plaza" and splitting that into two lines which isn't allowed for a choicebox.

I registered in these forums just so that I could thank you for translating this game. You seem to be translating all the games I like, first Nayuta no Kiseki , now this? Man thanks so much!

You're welcome. I thought it was a shame no one was around to help insert the script EnglishSubs4All translated.
I looked into it 1.5 years ago but I didn't get anywhere. I got a lot farther this time, lol.

Is this project abandoned?
I tested the game today and its so awesome i cant believe the translation is not finished.
While with the last patch we can play with the main story in english, all the other dialogues are still in japanese.
Someone could at least google translate the remaining japanese text to make things readable and release a beta patch. This game is too good to be left incomplete.
Can we still have hope in this project?

Cheers.

Just like Holysheild, I too, made an account just to show my support for this project. Ive kept up on it unregistered, but the lack of recent updates prompted me to do it. I love the work you've done so far, and the game is really quite good. My cliched question is, do you have plans to further the translation? There's not an awful lot of full PSP translations besides the main projects on the forum here, it would be great to see more of your work!

I don't really care about the game.
I said before that I didn't want EnglishSubs4All's translation to go to waste.

I don't think I ever published the spreadsheet, so here it is. You need to make your own copy.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... edit#gid=0

Basically, you need to fill in the "holes" in the spreadsheet.
You need someone who knows Japanese, machine TLs are no good.
I am guessing there is no interest in this game, that's why no one stepped up.

As far as the inserting tools, I _think_ they are included in the patch package you can get on romhacking.net:
http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2747/

If not, I don't have time to get them ready to publish right now.

Ah, you essentially put EnglishSubs4All's subs into the game itself and added more. It's unfortunate, but at least if that spreadsheet exists someone someday might be able do it. I'm super grateful for what you have done though, so thank you.
