Re: Games You Want to Do Someday

ralph2.PNG ralph1.PNG Today I managed to load a custom font (well,it's actually the same font used ingame, but it loads the english characters too). Text is gibberish because of the custom encoding I mentioned before. Seems we'll need 3 tables, one for the opening, one for the gameplay and the last on...

Re: Games You Want to Do Someday

Okay, some additional progress. I found the font file (or more like, files). The opening has a different font texture,I guess they optimized it in order to load only the symbols used in each scene. ralphfont.PNG Therefore,we're going to have to handle multiple text encodings in order to get a dump of ...

Re: Brandish 2 Renewal Translation Project

Well,I can't see any compression there, but I think there might be some issues. Will you be able to fit the english text in that space? I think I had to reallocate the text for the opening because there wasn't enough room. Also, It's possible that ASCII text won't work there, like it happens on the o...

Re: Games You Want to Do Someday

Okay, here is what I found so far: PSX isn't too different from PSP (same ASM), and there are emulators with powerful debugging tools. The game uses a custom text encoding,no SJIS. ralphfont.PNG It's quite simple.Characters are 12x12. It follows a horizontal order,so number 0 would be the first chara...

2d Platform RPG, with a little bit of dialogue.
I had no idea about this game at all, and I quite like what I see. I have never done PSX stuff before, but I'll give it a look nonetheless.

Re: Beta Patch Release

Okay, a little report on what I've got working so far: 1)You can switch between English and Japanese voices. 2)I have made a partial alternate soundtrack, although I'm not sure what to do with the new songs. I made a loader for custom music loop data,so anyone can include their custom music. 3)Shadow...

Re: Brandish 2 Renewal Translation Project

Wow, 3 months have passed by quite quickly. I haven't done anything with Brandish 2 or 3 ,trying to fix Celceta PC is taking all my free time. If I remember correctly, those strings were fixed length (was it 14 SJIS /28 ASCII characters?),and the files were uncompressed, you don't really need to do an...

Re: Hacking

I managed to get it to load up to the system data screen, blank screen after that. Anyway,it seems I got the 60 fps working during gameplay, although the menus are going at double speed, pretty much like Celceta and Nayuta. Let's see if I can make some cheat code to quickly switch between both modes. E...

Re: Hacking

I'm looking into making a 60 fps patch. The code is similar to Nayuta and Celceta, but it's not the same. The timing function from Nayuta/Celceta is even there, but it isn't used. Is there any way to make edits to the game without editing the ISO file? That way I can edit the MTD files and see where th...

Re: Release Thread

I cannot say for sure, the only thing I can think of right now, are the edited textures any bigger than the japanese ones? PPSSPP is a high level emulator, so it can go beyond PSP's limitations. Falcom seems to use VRAM quite extensively, because they even use 16 bit rendering in order to save some ...

Re: Compressed Files

I have been dealing with these tbb files with Celceta lately, mostly with bgmtbl.tbb, which contains the music loop data. I didn't want to mess with compression in order to ease BGM loop edits, so I basically created my own uncompressed loader code in C++ (basically a CSV parser) on an external DLL,...

Re: .PNG.PHYRE Imagine format

On page 3 there is some explanation on that. https://research.ncl.ac.uk/game/mastersdegree/workshops/ps3introductiontogcm/GCM%20Texturing.pdf Also I found this code in C: http://asmodean.reverse.net/misc/_/exhappyend.zip It won't work for this file as it is,but I see some similarities in there, perh...

This is a PS3 file, right?
I guess the data is swizzled, and perhaps the mipmaps are there too.

At last some gameplay video with a decent length.

Certainly it looks a lot better than Celceta graphically to me.

Re: Beta Patch Release

Yeah, there are some improvements planned ,along with some bugfixes mostly related to 60 fps: Music modding (my idea was to replace the Celceta music with the Yonemitsu arrangements whenever possible, although the idea is to make it user friendly so you can use whatever you want),that is working right...

Re: Beta Patch Release

We have isolated what causes the bug. The game was hardcoded to 30 fps,and changing it 60 fps can cause stuff like this. If you really want to get pass that scene using the current EXE (not sure when we will release the next version),you'll have to make a small edit to the EXE with a hex editor. Thi...

Re: Thoughts on hacking Evolution voices into the PC version?

If you mean for Celceta,it would be really easy to change between VA languages by pressing just a key, like I do with the music mod right now. Including it on the game's menu,I guess it's also possible by editing the scripts. That would need more work, not sure how much though. As for the original VAG...

Re: Thoughts on hacking Evolution voices into the PC version?

Good news everyone.

I asked for a decoder there, and it seems to be almost done.
According to the creator it still needs some tweaks, but it seems to work with Celceta's sounds.

You can download the game without an activation code at the official site:

You can buy the code there as well, although it's all in chinese.

Re: Thoughts on hacking Evolution voices into the PC version?

I found some information on the new VAG format.

It's called HE-VAG (HE stands for high efficiency, presumably).

All I could find was an encoder for this format, but it lacks any decoding functionality.
